Galvanised mild steel 64000x2800x100mm
Built by Ben Coode-Adams with the assistance of Andy Blore and Stuart Watson
This was a private commission that had its roots in an unrealised commission for Waitsfield, Vermont. The key to the design was to accommodate a curve on two axes — horizontal and vertical — over uneven ground The posts and horizontal sections were prefabricated in the workshop. The rings were then welded in place on site to link the parts together. It was then disassembled, galvanised and re-installed. The whole structure weighs over two tonnes and extends over 60 meters. Japanese folding screens influenced the form of the structure. The trellis is obscured in the summer by foliage but reveals itself in winter.
